Flash Pre-Season Opening Flash Tutorial

Chris sat down with me today and -within 2 minutes - managed to fix a coding issue I'd been trying to resolve by myself for over a week and a half (easy when you know how!)

Again I was trying to overcomplicate matters by having an inner boundary, which meant that the camera only scrolled when the car neared the outer edges of the frame. When Chris coded the game to simply lock on and follow the vehicle consistently, the weird effect I'd encountered as a result of my efforts magically vanished.

I found today's session the most useful so far. We went over some Flash essentials such as the use of public and private/static variables and how to get functions within separate ActionScript Files 'communicating' with one another (so to speak). It's all slowly but surely sinking in and I'm feeling more reassured that with time, it will become easier.

I'll put up the latest playable prototype in my next post.
